Where the text comes from

The Acts are the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria as published by the National Assembly and the Federal Government Printer. The rules of court are those made by each court under its enabling statute. The judgments are decisions of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal and the superior courts of record, as reported.

For the authoritative text of any law, and for anything that turns on a current amendment, consult the official publication or the court's own registry. Statutes are amended and rules are replaced; a reading copy can lag.

Not a government service

Lawyers' Guide is published by Lumos Global Studio, an independent developer. It does not represent, and is not produced, endorsed or authorised by, the National Assembly, the Federal Ministry of Justice, any court, or any other government body of Nigeria. It does not provide or facilitate any government service: you cannot file a process, pay a fee or obtain a certified copy here.

Not legal advice

Reading a law is not the same as being advised on it. Nothing here is legal advice, no relationship of lawyer and client arises from using this site, and the accuracy of any document should be verified against the official text before it is relied on in a matter.

The developer

Lawyers' Guide is developed by Lumos Global Studio with one purpose: convenient access to a comprehensive range of legal resources for practising lawyers, Law School students and undergraduate law students. We are committed to accurate, accessible and affordable legal resources for Nigerian lawyers and law students.
